What happens to your words and your books

Short version: your voice is turned into text on our own servers and then thrown away. Your books are yours; we don't sell or share them.

Your voice

• When you talk, your browser sends the recording to TalkBooks. Our own speech engine, running on Dankore Software's servers, turns it into text.
• We don't keep the recording. It's discarded as soon as it has been turned into text.
• No outside company hears your voice, and the AI that understands your words also runs on our own servers.
• Pages load their fonts from Google Fonts and the voice detector from the jsDelivr network, so those services see your IP address. They never see your voice or your books.

Your books

• We store what you tell TalkBooks to save: your business details, customers, money in and out, invoices, estimates, payments, and a copy of every email sent from your account.
• Each money entry keeps the sentence you said when you set it up, so you can see where it came from later.
• Only you can see your books when signed in. Each business is kept separate from every other.
• The words of a conversation are kept in memory while you use the app, so TalkBooks can follow along, and are forgotten after a few hours.
• Dankore Software staff look at your data only to fix a problem you report, or when the law requires it.

Email

• Invoices, estimates and messages you approve are sent through Amazon SES from [email protected], with your business email as the reply-to address.
• We only email customers you have saved, and only after you say yes.
• During early testing, TalkBooks may run in test mode. Then every email, including your own sign-up and password emails, goes to the TalkBooks team's test inbox instead of the real address, and the app shows a "Test mode" notice.

Payments

• Subscriptions and online invoice payments are handled by Stripe or Paystack. Card numbers go to them, never to TalkBooks.
• We keep the payment amount, date and the provider's reference so your books and invoices stay right.

Deleting your data

Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and we'll send you a copy of your records, or delete your account and every record in it, within 7 days.
